I hate to admit it, but this book was an absolute chore to get through. I'm not looking forward to the last book of the series, but will read it just out of pure loyalty.

Now that you have read it, please tell me that you too found it to be the worst book Donaldson has ever produced - he is killing his legacy with this series

i think most of what yall are saying is wrong alot of the slow songs on the album are really good, and that they have a really good meaning if youd just LISTEN to them there is some meaning behind them.other songs i agree are generic but dont say all the slow songs suck

Please read this and take notice of what I have to say, I have been around for a while listening to different Rock Bands and listening to their songs and their lyrics all my life. I am a Christian and people are very miss led indeed who think Ion Madien band is not Satanic and Rock bands just like them. Use your own common sense, wake up and listen to what they are singing, just listen to their songs they speak for themselves. Any band involving Lyrics from the Devil is Satanic and that’s a fact, there is no getting away with it. These bands like Ion Madien are not going to admit any involvement with Satan, in fact they deny any involvement indeed They will even tell you they are Christians, and deny any involvement, how gobble do they think we are. Just like Ozzy Ozbone of Black Sabbath he also involves Satan in his songs very openly just like Ion Madien yet denies when intervened of being Satanic at all, Well Ozzy you’re not fooling us at all. For those who don’t know what the Bible says about Satan, it states that Satan knows his time is short and it’s getting very close to Revelations and he knows it. Satan has blinded the eyes of unbelievers and uses these Rock Bands to do his dirty work they are influenced by him, and these Rock bands know very well they are, but they will not admit it. If they were not satanic they would not sing songs about the devil would you? Open your eyes and listen to their Lyrics, it’s a true saying, the devil looks after his own, and he certainly doing that, Stick 67.

"Those who wanted more “scientific” answers to the Island’s mythology, well you got hosed."

Yeah, they summed it up well didn't they? you see, there was this cork in the middle of this light, and when you take the cork out there is an earthquake. and when you put it back in, the island regains it's magical powers...

I'm not sure it was about not answering the "scientific" answers -- because those answers were there -- but it's just that those answers were so freaking lame. (and then Christian walked into a bright light while Sayid sucked face with his true love... Shannon.)

The writers created an island of mystery that provided the thrust to the entire narrative of the story, then completely backed off of it and went with a feel good story where everyone winds up dancing around like magical pixie horses in a christian, buddhist, muslim, new age (etc) church. The reality is they could, and should, have had the creativity to do both -- and could have done so by letting some mystery remain.

Oh, and I didn't like the Sixth Sense the first time I saw it.

I absolutely loved it. I'm not nearly smart enough or original enough to write a complete commentary on how the final scenes remind me of what I wish people's pursuit of God looked like, but here goes a snippet:

The series refused to exhaust its final episode(s) to merely answering questions about the science, mythology and 'systems' that dictated the island and/or its inhabitants. The creators had to know that whatever answers they provided would, undoubtedly, lead to more questions and that the answers people would come up with would not satisfy them. Instead, they focused on relationships. Only the reconciliation between characters and the embraces they shared in the fleeting minutes before the end would make the heart of the viewer sense some sort of peace.
*sigh*
So...I wish that is what our lives as Christians could be more like. I suppose answers to deep theological questions bear some heavy importance, but I doubt those Q's and A's can ever be more meaningful than the embraces and relationships we develop along the way. Those are always way better than answers. Theology is, and always will be, trumped by human relationship.

Anyway, someone might read this and banish me to hell for such thinking, but then they'll have to decide whether that 'hell' is on an island or if I can merely wait in a flash-sideways purgatory.

This was/is about my same exact feelings and observations. I loved it. I was so set for disappointment, but they delivered in a way I had never expected. Totally fit the show and I don't even care about the unanswered questions. I bawled my eyes at at the church scene. Reminded me a little of what Heaven may be like reuniting with people. Or meeting new ones. Amen?
